Born and raised in Washington, DC, Kevin found himself exploring music at an early age. Between local church music programs and the high school band, Kevin quickly developed his natural talent for drums, vocals and music production. At age 17, he became the drummer for the Federal Focus Jazz Band, a group dedicated to the furtherance of Dixieland music. While with the group, Kevin met, mingled and worked with a host of celebrities such as Wynton Marsalis, David Hasselhoff, Cecily Tyson and Bill Cosby.
After high school, Kevin continued his music endeavors working with an array of artists, including Wynton Marsalis, Yolanda Adams, Ali Woodson, Daryl Coley, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Melba Moore, Donnie McClurkin, Alyson Willams, Bobby Lyle and more. In 1994, Kevin partnered with songwriter and piano sensation Marcus Johnson, and together, they took the local music scene by storm publishing hot CD projects and performing lively concerts all over the Washington, DC metropolitan area. After gaining significant attention in the region, this ultimately led to securing a national distribution deal with N2K Encoded Music broadening our exposure on a national level.
With success on a national level, Kevin began circling back to his roots collaborating with local artists like the Suttle Thoughts band and other local sensations. While working with Suttle Thoughts, Kevin led and groomed the band to ultimately produce a jazz CD featuring the group in 1998 entitled "Caribbean Love". This debut CD quickly gained recognition, ultimately becoming considered the hottest projects in the DC-metropolitan area. The attention created such a buzz that it soon led to an opportunity to work with Faith Evans and Sean Combs under Bad Boys Entertainment.
In 2002, Kevin continued working with Marcus Johnson to support his vision to establish Three Keys, the first, largest DC-based record label in partnership withBET Networks mogul and entreprenuer Robert Johnson. With the success of the label, Kevin then procured a deal with MHz Networks to become the drummer and music collaborator for the hit television show 8101 Live with Michel Wright, an urban-based entertainment talk show reaching over 2 million viewers worldwide. While on the show, Kevin had the opportunity to work with a variety of artists, including Coolio, Regina Belle, Tony Terry, Eric Roberson, and many more. Inspired by his previous work, Kevin released his sophomore CD "Moments" soon thereafter in 2003, a cool blend of smooth jazz, hip-hop and adult contemporary flavor beautifully woven together to create a captivating musical joyride.
Kevin's accomplishments has led to renown recognition, including a 2011 Telly Award for best music in a film and a 2013 Grammy nomination. He has worked with a number of artists and entertainment mogules including Sean Combs, Nelly, Russell Simmons, Chingy, Musiq Soulchild, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Schuman and a host of others to create original music, provide production support and/or live/studio drum services. Today, Kevin continues in his efforts providing quality, afforable songwriting, music production and publishing services.
